The new fire station of almost 17,000 square feet is mostly wood framed, complemented with structural steel. Exterior finishes include a unique mix of masonry, architectural sheet metal siding, galvanized steel channels and beams, right-of-way improvements and landscaping. A 13 million dollar public safety bond that city voters approved in 2002 funded this project. This project, which not only serves the people of Bremerton but also beautifies the community, was completed in 2005.The groundbreaking ceremony took place Friday, June 25th, 2004. The actual excavation work started the following Monday.
